Melissa Pinto has become one of the most outstanding younger representatives of contemporary Colombian jazz. In her pieces, she explores new ways of rendering the music of the country's two coastal regions in the language of jazz. Here she will perform her compositions with Cologne musicians Julius Van Rhee, Lukas Wilmsmeyer, Calvin Lennig and Finn Wiest.
Melissa Pinto has released two albums, "Familia Caribe" (2017) and "Oí na' ma" (2014), both recorded on the independent label Locus in Bogotá. Given the positive reception by the public, the press rated "Oí na' ma" as one of the best albums produced in Colombia in 2014.
She is the recipient of numerous national awards and has played several national tours with her band. She is currently a student in the Jazz Composition/Arrangement Master's program at HfMT Cologne.
