Finally, as redemption, the well-deserved end of work and the night... The Eines Tages Quartett around Nicklas John inspires personal associations and awakens emotions. It invites you to listen, it provokes and rewards the listener.

The quartet, which has won numerous prizes, consists of cello, clarinet, accordion and piano. The Essen-based jazz pianist and composer Nicklas John was attracted by the challenge of composing for such an ensemble without any role models. Influenced by jazz and classical music, he created works that allow these four instruments to slip into new, different roles.

The jazz musicians Conrad Noll (cello) and Orest Filipov (clarinet) and the classically trained Taras Makhno (accordion) contribute to the creation of the pieces with their different musical backgrounds and enrich them with their improvised solos. Their unique sound alternates between calm, solemn, rhythmically energetic and quirky passages.

The Eines Tages Quartett was awarded a special prize in 2022 and a scholarship from the Werner Richard - Dr Carl Dörken Foundation in 2023. It was awarded top marks at John's final bachelor concert. It was also coached in a masterclass by renowned accordionist Richard Galliano.
