PHALANX is a quartet that brings the energy of a rock band and at the same time works with the sonority of new music. Melancholy of the Impressionist meets entertaining – say of an André Rieu. Despite the diversity of references and influences, a stringency and recognizable signature can be discerned in the compositions of Mathieu Bech, highlighted by the arrangements of the band. In the instrumentation of a classical piano trio, reinforced by an eight-string fretless electric guitar not yet known in this way, a body of sound is created that is versatile, recognizable and yet agile.
