„I first met Estonian pianist Kirke Karja in the summer of 2023 at a concert by Fabian Dudek’s ensemble Day By Day (Cologne Jazzweek ’23). At that time, I knew her mainly through her work as a bandleader (with Karja/Renard/Wandinger, among others) – I would like to recommend the album The Wrong Needle.
Through our collaboration on Day By Day, Kirke and I realized that we wanted to tackle a project with a focus on two grand pianos. Our sonic aesthetics and improvisational approaches are close to each other and yet we both sound wonderfully different....
