The Simon Bremen Quartet plays its own pieces and arrangements. These reflect the search for and in-depth exploration of the most diverse sources of inspiration as well as improvisations with a focus on melody and feel. So instead of claiming to be able to constantly explore new musical territory in the face of an already infinite variety of existing music, the four musicians move boldly as a classical jazz line-up in the vast space of the constantly expanding musical tradition. Lyrical melodies meet modern harmonies, driving grooves are on an equal footing with free playing spaces. The four young musicians shape the resulting areas of tension with their personal sonic signatures to create a lively, yet always transparent band sound....

With the addition of Finnish friend and vibraphonist Olli Virtanen, whom Simon Bremen got to know during his one-year Erasmus stay in Helsinki, the quartet released its debut album „Reflections On Predictability“ on Unit Records in March 2023, which received a review in Jazzthing. Over the past four years, the band has already played numerous gigs in German jazz clubs such as Bix Stuttgart and King Georg Cologne. Further concerts have taken them to the Karlsruhe Jazz Festival in 2019 and to Romania in 2021, where they were supported by the Initiative Musik. They were also part of Klangspektrum BW in 2020 and played as part of the Young Jazz Ahead series at the Minden Jazz Club in November 2022. The musicians have already won several prizes such as Jugend Musiziert and Jugend Jazzt, were members of various state youth jazz orchestras and have performed on stage with artists such as Jochen Rückert, Sebastian Gille, Bob Mintzer, Jim Black, Rick Margitza, Wolfgang Muthspiel and Pablo Held.
