On this evening, the audience will not hear Breton music. Rather, compositions and arrangements by Detlev Haimerl from Cologne will be presented, which come more from the jazz standard context and also remain connected to the mainstream. The common bond of these pieces forms a mood associated with Brittany, that stretch of land in the very northwest of France that was once considered the end of the world.
„Brittany is something I feel connected to, and I like to be there often. Perhaps it has given me something of itself on these visits, and I have (hopefully) in turn given the songs something of there – something of the haunted, of the legends and calvaires, but also of the radiant, the glow of the colors, of sky and sea, heather and lichen-covered granite.“
