Half of the program in July consists of original compositions by Finn Heine, who has arranged each piece especially for the Traumfabrik Jazzorchester. As a former fellow of the WDR Big Band Composer Fellowship Program, where he learned from greats such as Vince Mendoza and Florian Ross, Finn Heine brings his creative signature to each arrangement.
The other half of the program is penned by Florian Ross, not only Finn Heine’s mentor, but also one of Germany’s most distinguished jazz composers and arrangers. Ross has written over 300 commissioned works for national and international ensembles and is a regular guest conductor with renowned radio big bands such as the WDR Big Band. His musical signature is characterized by formal precision, harmonic sophistication and a fine sense of tonal balance – qualities that the Traumfabrik Jazzorchester can bring to bear under his direction.
