So in April 2022 we were also on a concert tour in Nepal, which was the beginning of a lasting and long-term relationship with the Kathmandu Jazz Conservatory. A mutual exchange with Nepalese musicians and students took place, which went so deep that the cooperation has to be continued afterwards.
In this context we want to raise funds for a scholarship program to give musicians from Nepal the opportunity to study at the Kathmandu Jazz Conservatory. All proceeds and donations from this concert will go towards the scholarship....

SH4iKH9 extended is a ten-piece large ensemble that fuses large-scale orchestrated modern jazz and the classical style of a singer-songwriter. In the spring of 2020, founder Maximilian Shaikh-Yousef expanded the initially nine-member project to include singer Veronika Morscher, with whom he composed a new program and performed it for the first time at the 51st German Jazz Festival. In the process, Veronika’s lyrics deal with diverse issues, from socio-critical concerns to tender emotional narratives, to which Maximilian composes and arranges the music. The contrasts between complexity and simplicity are in the foreground.

The ensemble was formed in February 2018 – at that time still exclusively instrumental. The music has been described as electrifying, acoustic, delicate and brute. A nonet that presents a mixture of chamber jazz and groove-oriented music. Influences of Arabic music and classical literature can be heard, which accompany the band until now. These qualities in composition and playful diversity were recognized, among other things, by the award of the Frankfurt Jazz Scholarship 2018. Jury member and Head of the Department of Culture Ina Hartwig commented: „I am very pleased that with Maximilian Shaikh-Yousef we are awarding a musician who has already developed a considerable individual expression in his musical works. The Jazz Scholarship of the City of Frankfurt will encourage him in this and support the further development of his artistic personality.“ Over the years, the ensemble has played throughout Germany and at various festivals such as Jazz im Palmengarten 2019 in Frankfurt and the Fabrikfestival Sachsenhausen 2018.
