Program Age Range: All AgesThe history of Taiko, the thundering Japanese drums, is interwoven in the fabric of Japanese history, regarded as sacred, since ancient times. Toni Yagami and Lance Acker bring this history to life in this fun filled, informative show as they combine their taiko drums, hand percussion and bamboo flutes with a “swinging” clarinet, producing a veritable east meets west of traditional and contemporary tunes. A hands-on segment offers audience members to get a chance to try this awesome and unique instrument! Funding is provided for the Kids’ Matinee by the ‘Music In Action’ grant from the Live Music Society.
