In 2026, it will be 100 years since jazz symbolically arrived in Finland with the ship Andania. The year thus marks a historic centenary celebration for Finnish jazz: Jazz in Finland 100. The anniversary highlights Finnish jazz and its artists both in Finland and abroad, celebrating jazz as part of Finland’s cultural heritage. The Jazz in Finland 100 campaign is coordinated by the Finnish Jazz Federation.

Kotimaiset jazz-taivaan kirkkaimmat tähdet saksofonisti Timo Lassy ja rumpali Teppo Mäkynen yhdistävät kosmiset voimansa. Vaikka miesten yhteistyö on hioutunut vuosikymmenenten saatossa erinäisissä projekteissa (Teddy Rok 7, The Five Corners Quintet, Jo Stance, Timo Lassy Band), on tässä duossa raikkautta ja intoa, joka näkyy ja kuuluu erityisesti live-keikoilla. Muusikot ammentavat energiansa sekä yleisöstä että dialogista keskenään.
Timo Lassy & Teppo Mäkynen -duoalbumi julkaistiin 2019 (We Jazz) ja se sai osakseen innostuneen vastaanoton. Duon yhteistyössä kuuluu soiton ilo ja luonnollisuus ja väkevä kokonaisuus liikkuu välillä abstrakteilla vesillä ja paahtaa välillä täysillä grooven saattelemana. Duo julkaisi vielä livealbumin Timo Lassy & Teppo Mäkynen: Live Recordings 2019–2020, jossa kuulee livekeikan intensiteettiä ja energiaa.

Vuonna 2026 tulee kuluneeksi 100 vuotta siitä, kun jazz symbolisesti rantautui Andania-laivan mukana Suomeen. Vuosi on siten historiallinen kotimaisen jazzin juhlavuosi: Jazz Suomi 100 -juhlavuosi. Juhlavuosi nostaa esiin kotimaista jazzia ja sen tekijöitä niin Suomessa kuin ulkomailla, ja juhlii jazzia osana suomalaista kulttuuriperintöä. Jazz Suomi 100 -kampanjaa koordinoi Suomen Jazzliitto.
