Grammy nominated pianist/vocalist Judy Carmichael is considered on of the leading interpreters of stride and swing piano. She has performed throughout the world from Carnegie Hall to the Peggy Guggenheim Museum in Venice (the first concert ever presented there) to shows with Michael Feinstein and The Smothers Brothers. In addition, Ms. Carmichael has done comic skits and performed her music on radio and TV and performed private recitals for Robert Redford, Rod Steward, Bill Clinton, and theater producer Cameron Macintosh, among others. In 1992 Ms. Carmichael was the first jazz musician sponsored by the United States Government to tour China.

Ms. Carmichael received a Grammy Nomination for her recording Two-Handed Stride, which she recorded with members of the Count Basie Band. She has appeared frequently on A Prairie Home Companion, been featured on Entertainment Tonight, NPR’s Morning Edition,and CBS Sunday Morning and film and TV for the BBC and the Australian Broadcast Corporation.She hosts and produces Judy Carmichael’s Jazz Inspired on NPR, now in its 18th year. Ms. Carmichael recently published her memoir, Swinger! A Jazz Girl’s Adventures From Hollywood To Harlem available in bookstores and at Amazon.com.
