About
Leeds crime writer Chris Nickson has written a jazz play as a Festival Commission about Studio 20, the Leeds main 1950’s jazz club. Studio 20 was on New Briggate (now the Sela Bar) and was run by tuba player Bob Barclay. Over the years it featured musicians like bluesman Jimmy Rushing, traditional jazz legend Ken Colyer, vocalist and raconteur George Melly, and sax legends Tubby Hayes and Ronnie Scott. The play is directed by Ray Brown and features the jazz vocals of Jennie Smith.
