Open Rehearsal: Issie Barratt's Interchange at Leeds Jazz Festival at Howard Assembly Room

Ahead of their concert for Leeds Jazz Festival (Sun 5 Jun, 4pm), here’s a chance to sit in on a rehearsal with Issie Barratt’s all-star Interchange ensemble as they play through brand new works by emerging female composers for the very first time.

As part of their mission to champion and mentor the nation’s most innovative women composers and improvisers, Issie and her band are offering a unique, free professional development initiative for female composers who want to gain more experience in writing for large ensembles.

Works by 10 female composers selected from an open call and mentored and supported in writing works for the ensemble will get their first ever airing, with four of the pieces being chosen for performance at the afternoon concert. ...
