Description: This is an acoustic “Seven Jazz Unplugged” gig. The intimate setting of Seven Arts concert room is just made for the jazz duo to perform. Here we have two for the price of one – firstly guitarist Jiannis Pavlidis and saxophonist Matt Anderson, followed by pianist Declan Forde and saxophonist Will Howard.
Jiannis Pavlidis (guitar) with Matt Anderson (sax): Guitarist Jiannis Pavlidis and saxophonist Matt Anderson have been playing together frequently over the past two years They share a passion for the music of the Great American Songbook. This concert will mark the release of their new album. They perform songs by composers such as Cole Porter, Jerome Kern and George Gershwin and other jazz standards. The duo can also be heard as part of the Matt Anderson / Jiannis Pavlidis Quartet, which focuses on original material. They draw inspiration from their favourite jazz artists such as Sonny Rollins, John Coltrane and Kurt Rosenwinkel, however as a duo they are heavily influenced by the sometimes quite implied and abstract duos of Bill Evans/Jim Hall, Brad Mehldau/Joel Frahm and George Coleman/Tete Montoliu....
