This concert is dedicated to the memory of Adam Warne, much loved and respected percussionist with Unfurl and the Sheffield Indian Music Ensemble (both originally booked to play on this night), who passed away in April 2017. All the club's proceeds on the night will be donated to a cause suggested by Adam's musical colleagues in those bands, so please do come along and make it a huge night. We're immensely grateful to Bex, who kindly stepped in at short notice to make this event happen.

Vula Viel return to us in a unique one-off duo format after three packed and uniquely exhilarating gigs in Sheffield over the last couple of years.
Vula Viel means Good is Good in Dagaare, the language of the tribe in Upper West Ghana where Bex Burch lived, farmed and studied for three years. Their intensely rhythmic music mixes African, electronica and minimalist influences, all centred on Bex's extraordinary energy levels on the Gyil (the Dagaare xylophone made of sacred lliga wood).
The stage at The Lescar was literally bouncing the last time they played here. This time Bex visits us with Zands Duggan, an incredible percussionist who's playing credits aside from numerous jazz and world music ensembles include the Royal Philharmonic, the Urban Soul Orchestra, CBSO, and even a duo appearance with Lady Gaga on the Alan Carr show.
With a new album due out in 2018, Bex and Vula Viel look set to reach even wider audiences next year; come and hear them at The Lescar.
