Description: Leeds College of Music graduate saxophonist Phil Meadows just keeps collecting accolades. His group showcases some of the best young musicians in the UK. Phil Meadows alto/soprano sax, composer, Laura Jurd trumpet, Elliot Galvin piano, Conor Chaplin bass, Simon Roth drums.

Phil’s career has blossomed of late. He’s now musical director at the National Youth Jazz Orchestra, has performed at the Bimhuis in Amsterdam, is a member of the Future Beats horn section and was the 2014 Parliamentary Jazz Newcomer of the Year. For the tour his regular five piece group have carefully adapted the music for a more intimate setting and will be performing repertoire from their new "Lifecycles" suite - part of the Engines Imprint on Boom Better Records. The tour sees the small group perform repertoire from the Lifecycles suite depicting the situations, tough decisions and lifechanging experiences that we all go through. The music remains highly melodic with elements of folk and classical lyricism juxtaposed by freewheeling spontaneity, blazing solos and riproaring grooves. So far the Lifecycles project has been featured in Jazzwise, TimeOut and The Guardian. It has received widespread acclaim with airplay including BBC Radio 2’s Jamie Cullum Show, the ‘Best of 2014’ BBC Jazz on 3 programme (chosen by John Fordham) and becoming part of the regular JazzFM playlist ....
