About
From 7 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Sunday, 17 January 2016 The Ohio Club (established in 1905 and located across from Bathhouse Row in historic downtown Hot Springs) will present live jazz (in the style of the 1920s-1930s) by pianist Clyde Pound and The Bootleggers: 2000 Arkansas Jazz Hall of Fame inductee Earl Hesse (clarinet, sax), David Higginbotham (upright bass), Paul Stivitts (drums). The $5 admission fee benefits the Garland County Historical Society, whose records reflect the frequent appearance of gangsters like Al Capone (17 January 1899 - 25 January 1947) at The Ohio Club and other establishments in Hot Springs National Park. This "Al Capone Birthday Party" includes drink specials, free hors d'oeuvres, and $100 cash prizes to be awarded at 9 p.m. for the best gangster costumes (male, female, couple). Photos may be taken with the Al Capone mannequin. More info (along with photos and a local map) for the venue is provided via a link at the top of this Jazz Near You entry, which can be shared via e-mail as well as social media. ...
