About
Acker Bilk, British Clarinetist, one of the most famous Jazz musicians in the world, who adores the sound of traditional New Orleans Jazz. He had a world wide hit in 1961 – “Stranger on the Shore”; believe it or not, Acker and his band were already well known in the US before the Beatles. In March 2001 Acker was honoured with an MBE for his services to the music industry. In 2005, Acker was awarded both the BBC Jazz Award for his unique contribution to Jazz in the UK.
