9:00PM CLAUDIA CAMPAGNOL Born in Hungary to parents who are both professional musicians (her father is a pianist her mother a singer), Claudia was clearly destined to become a performer of real quality. The whole family moved to Sweden when Claudia was a small child and by the age of 12 she could be seen “guesting” on her parents gigs in venues all around the country. After graduating from the University of Music in Malmoe, Claudia, appearing as Claudia Dancs, rapidly established herself as one of the leading singers of her generation. After several years of working in Sweden and around Europe, including Hungary where she still has strong ties, she settled in Copenhagen, Denmark where she met and married the Italian drummer Niclas Campagnol. After taking time out following the birth of her son, Claudia is once again establishing herself as a world-class vocalist, her career going from strength to strength as she consistently delivers mature performances in a distinctive jazz style, while showcasing an impressive flair for improvisation. A multi-instrumentalist and composer as well as performer, her combination of jazz standards and original contemporary material have made her a favourite of audiences everywhere. Tonight she will be accompanied by József Balázs-piano, Mark Lewandowski-bass and Elemér Balázs-drums, and look out for a Special Guest appearance from the 606 Club’s own Steve Rubie on flute....

10:45PM SAMARA WITH SPECIAL GUEST JÁNOS ÁVED, SAXOPHONE is a six-piece jazz/Latin group which I lead on sax and flute, and suffice it to say we all think the guys in the band are just great! The pianist Steve Lodder works with the likes of Andy Sheppard, Monica Vasconcelos and Ernestine Anderson, Dill Katz, the bass player is visiting professor at the Guildhall, Nic France the drummer has worked with just about everyone, including Dave Gilmore (Pink Floyd) and Bill Withers, while the percussionist, Dawson Miller, is generally recognised as one of the most versatile and experienced players on the scene. Singer Liliana Chachian is considered to be one of the finest Brazilian vocalists currently working in Europe, with an unerring gift for melody and phrasing. Tonight, in the spirit of Anglo-Hungarian glasnost the band will also feature an old friend and brilliant Hungarian saxophonist János Ávéd (Thu 24th). The music is an infectious blend of Brazilian Samba, jazz/latin and soul, and everyone has a great time!
