About

Conceived and led by the highly rated saxophonist Christian Brewer this is an exciting new Jazz/Funk band which features some of the finest musicians on the UK Jazz and Groove scene. Christian himself has, over a 20-year period, established himself both in the UK and abroad as a musician of formidable repute. His fiery, hard-bop influenced sax playing has been heard in a variety of the most prestigious clubs in the UK and Europe along with an impressive array of high profile musicians, including Chano Dominguez (Sp), Francesco Posé (Sp), Jorge Pardo (Sp), Andrea Pozza (It) Damon Brown (UK), Dick de Graaf, Jos Machtel (Netherlands) and Peter King (UK). Also featured this evening will be one of the most respected jazz musicians in the UK, guitarist Jim Mullen. A multi award winner (receiving a special Parliamentary Jazz Award in October of 2017), Jim is widely regarded as one of the finest Jazz guitarists in Europe. Originally from Glasgow he made his name with a number of seminal bands through the 70’s and 80’s including Brian Auger’s “Oblivion Express”, The Average White Band and his own highly acclaimed jazz/funk band “Morrissey-Mullen”. A highly prized sideman as well as leader Jim also includes work with the likes of Mose Allison, Jimmy Witherspoon, Georgie Fame and Gene Harris on a stellar CV. And completing the front line will be vocalist Lily Dior. An expat Australian now settled in London, Lily has had an extensive and highly respected career. Recognised as one of Australia’s foremost vocalists she has performed at major festivals and venues around the world, including New York, New Zealand, Japan, Singapore, Shanghai and Hong Kong. She has shared the stage with a who’s who of world-class musicians, has numerous TV and Radio appearances to her name and hosted her own show on Sydney’s premier jazz station ‘Eastside Radio’ for over ten years. The backbone of the band features Leon Greening on piano and the rock solid Ernie McKone-bass and Crispin Taylor-drums who between them include work with the likes of Galliano, Paul Weller, Seal, Marlena Shaw, Candi Staton and Carleen Anderson. An exciting new band and definitely worth catching....
