About

Critically acclaimed Emily Saunders, marked as ‘one to look out for’ by The Guardian’s John Fordham, previews her new album ‘Outsiders Insiders’ the follow up to her standout debut ‘Cotton Skies’. ‘Outsiders Insiders’ is already creating a word of mouth buzz prior to its release showcasing the upbeat summer grooves and Brazilian influences on her debut, contrasted with reflective chillout. Influences include Chick Corea, Airto Moreira and Portishead. Widely commented as one of the most distinctive and refreshing voices today, her original music, poetic lyrics and innovative production highlight an effortless instrumental vocal style, upbeat grooves and rich sultry sounds. The band highlights international trumpeter Byron Wallen, “one of the most innovative, exciting and original trumpet players alive” – Jazzwise Magazine (played with Courtney Pine, Mica Paris, Loose Ends), Steve Pringle, piano (worked with Joss Stone, Michael Kiwanuka, Abram Wilson, Denys Baptiste and won Jon Hassell Memorial Prize for Jazz [2010]), Paul Michael, bass (Julian Joseph and Liane Carroll), George Hart, drums (Swing Out Sister, Matt Ridley Trio, Ivo Neame).
