Black Top is back after a providing a packed-out highlight of the 2012 London Jazz Festival. This time series founders Pat Thomas (piano/electronics) and Orphy Robinson (vibes) will be joined by expat South African trumpeter Claude Deppa. The ad hoc 'Black Top' series is dedicated to exploring the intersection of live instruments and technology such as the looping and sampling used in dub, reggae and other worldly noises - using improvisation to explore these black influences but not necessarily from an African American perspective.
