Since spearheading a wave of British vocal folk/jazz with her pioneering and self-produced debut album ‘Not Alone’, co-written with folk/jazz guitarist Jonny Phillips (which was received with exuberant critical praise on its release in 2005 and led to extensive UK-wide touring, a featured appearance in a Nokia ad campaign and a BBC Jazz Award nomination in the ‘Rising Star’ category), Julia Biel has now released a new album full of self-penned material.

A former Perrier Jazz Vocalist of the Year winner, her credits also include a MOBO nomination, an Urban Music Award nomination and featured guest vocals with the Mercury Prize nominated act POLAR BEAR on two out of their four albums released to date, a feature with Hidden Orchestra (TruThoughts) and featured lead vocals on underground house hits written in collaboration with Ben Watt of EVERYTHING BUT THE GIRL.
