About

Julian Siegel, the multi Award-winning classically trained multi-instrumentalist, has unquestionably established himself as one of Europe’s leading jazz musician/composers, playing most reed instruments, including tenor sax, clarinet and bass clarinet. Co-leader, with guitarist Phil Robson, since 1996 of the highly influential group Partisans his fluent, melodic, playing has also been heard with the likes of Andrew Hill, Mike Gibbs, Bill Frisell, Steve Swallow, Adam Nussbaum, Hermeto Pascoal, Django Bates, John Taylor, Jazz Jamaica, Kenny Wheeler, Colin Towns, Steve Lacy, Jason Yarde, Cleo Laine and Beverley Knight. As well as Partisans and his own quartets and quintets Julian can also be heard with his trio featuring US stars drummer Joey Baron and bassist Greg Cohen and he has toured worldwide, including the USA, Canada and much of Europe. The recipient of the 2007 BBC Jazz Award for Best Instrumentalist and the 2011 London Jazz Award, Julian is also a highly respected educationalist, teaching at both Trinity Laban and the Royal College of Music. Born in Australia, Adam Pache is one of the most accomplished young jazz drummers on the international jazz scene. After studying and performing in New York for some time Adam moved to Rome, where he has established a busy schedule of concerts, recordings and master-classes throughout Europe, including work with the likes of Steve Grossman, Clark Terry, Lee Konitz, Steve Swallow, Carla Bley, Junior Mance, Scott Hamilton, Seamus Blake, Jeremy Pelt, Terell Stafford and Barbara Dennerlein. More recently he has toured as a member of Grammy Award-winning singer Diane Schuur’s quartet, in a trio with the highly acclaimed American pianist Eric Reed and as a part of various projects led by Italian jazz greats Emanuele Cisi and Piero Odorici. One of the leading contemporary European-based drummers it’s a pleasure to welcome Adam to the Club this evening. Completing the quartet will be two of the finest players on the UK scene, the great Jim Watson on piano and the up-and-coming Mark Lewandowski on bass. The music will be a mix of classic jazz standards and Adam's (and the occasional Seigel) originals and promises to be quite special. Highly recommended....
