Gaining a reputation in the early 90s as one of the first and best groups to explore the connections between jazz and klezmer, Just East quickly developed a unique sound, drawing influences from a range of musical styles.
Now, the band has an off-beam take on contemporary music, incorporating world, folk, prog and classical influences in their impressionistic style. Composition and improvisation are seamlessly linked together in their music, an approach that has led to favorable comparisons with fusion pioneers Weather Report and prog-rock innovators Gong.
