About
The Latin Underground sextet, led by iconic conguero Robin Jones, play authentic Latin music with a strong jazz influence. Generally considered to be one of the finest percussion players around, Robinās shaven head and distinctive earring has been seen in groups from his own āKing Salsaā to those of Tito Puente, Elton John and Sade amongst many, many others. Latin Underground play classic Latin jazz tunes as well as great originals from their saxophonist Nick Walker, producing a truly infectious Latin vibe that is always rhythmic and exciting. Robin has a long association with the Club going back decades to the original 606 on Kings Road. Heās very much part of the 606 family so we were especially pleased to have recently hosted the release of Latin Undergroundās latest recording, āSeven Stops to Heavenā, their first since 2006ās āMojitoā. Often affectionately referred to as the āGodfather of British Latin musicā Robin is truly one of the great performers on the international Latin scene and the whole band is equally as impressive.
