About
Originally from Sao Paulo, Brazil, Liliana is generally recognized as one of the finest Brazilian singers in Europe. This enormously experienced performerâs work as both singer and composer, has led her to collaborations with the likes of the iconic Brazilian percussionist Airto Moreira and Weather Reportâs drummer Dom Um Romao as well as work with artists such as The Pet Shop Boys, Masters At Work (N.Y.) and Snowboy. She co-wrote the 1st âDa Lataâ album (âSongs from the Tinâ) that took her on an extensive world tour, performing in major festivals and venues from New Yorkâs Central Park to China, Japan, Canada, South Africa and most countries in Europe. With her bass player and co-founder of âNegrocanâ, Andy Lafone, she co-wrote and performed on three albums culminating in a Billboard nomination for the single âCada Vezâ. She delivers a powerful, rhythmic set in her native Brazilian Portuguese, in a way in that only a Brazilian brought up with the music since childhood can achieve. Tonight, Liliana is bringing her project âOlumoâ to the Club, which features some of the finest musicians in the UK, the great Neil Angilley on piano, Uruguayan bass player Andy Lafone, Chilean percussionist Carlos Fuentes, the excellent Brazilian sax and flute player Giuliano Pereira and upcoming drummer Fabio de Oliveira. The music will be primarily Lilianaâs originals plus the occasional classic Brazilian song and is both melodic and exciting, being aptly described as âA journey through rich and musically influential culturesâ. âOlumoâ, incidentally, is the name of a huge rock in Abeokuta, Nigeria, that represents solidarity, strength and reliability. Highly recommended. ...
