NY Standards Quartet at Herts Jazz Club

The NY Standards Quartet, spearheaded by saxophonist Tim Armacost, came together in 2006. Its members, four New York jazz musicians, have developed a near telepathic relationship playing together in a variety of settings, including in some of the top bands in New York. Conceptually, the NYSQ strives to develop its own language by radically reinterpreting great songs in the tradition of the standard jazz repertoire.

Add to that one of the standout saxophonist in New York today Tim Armacost, the intense, inventive and scholarly piano of Dave Berkman and the powerful bass of UK-based Michael Janisch and Welwyn Garden City is in for a fantastic night of jazz.

Herts Jazz music director, Clark Tracey said, “This is such a great band over from the US, we just had to have them at Herts Jazz so we’ve arranged this Friday night gig as a special bonus for WGC jazz fans.”
