A wonderful mainstream trumpet player and singer Pete is probably best known at the Club for his work with the spin off from Kansas Smitty’s House Band (of which he is also a leading member), Kansas Smitty’s Big Four. As well as his work with the Smitty’s Pete is also the leader of the house band at the Pizza Express, Dean St. as well as the traditional jazz group Basin Street Brawlers. He has performed at most major UK jazz venues and festivals, including Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club and has made numerous international appearances, including a week in New York City at Jazz at Lincoln Centre. His highly melodic and expressive trumpet work has been heard with the likes of the Chris Barber Band, Ian Shaw, Joe Stilgoe and Barb Jungr. And in addition to his outstanding skill as an instrumentalist, he also has the most wonderful voice. This afternoon, as well as playing his glorious trumpet he will also be singing a selection of classic jazz standards from the 30’s and 40’s with his terrific swinging band of Joe Webb-piano, David Archer-guitar and Dave O'Brien-bass. A really fun way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
