After selling out shows with Soundcrash at Village Underground and Koko as Portico Quartet, the band are back under new guise PORTICO, for a very special show this December, at the stunning Islington Assembly Hall.


PORTICO's new music is born of a desire to create newness out of the ideas
of loss and change. Bordering on the hallucinatory, their music moves
forwards towards distant places, arriving somewhere between structured pop
songs and a disintegrating ambience.


PORTICO still sound like nothing you ever heard before. The Mercury nominated East London based outfit’s unique music has expanded to embrace new sonic territories. Drawing on the inspiration of electronica, ambient, classical and dance music as they take their strange, beautiful, cinematic, future music to exciting new vistas where the inspiration of Burial, Mount Kimbie and Flying Lotus rubs shoulders with the textures of Arve Henriksen and Bon Iver and echoes of Steve Reich and Max Richter. But all underpinned by a shared joy in collective music making as the band push their inimitable music into the future....

Featuring Duncan Bellamy, Milo Fitzpatrick and Jack Wyllie, PORTICO is a
diffuse blend of the sublunary and the celestial where reverb drenched
pianos mesh with swathes of ambient noise. Drum machines crisply puncture
the air surrounded by shimmering arpeggios of synth and electric bass and
guest vocalist Jono McCleery's vocals float high above a world of textural
atmosphere.


We watch and listen with anticipation to see where PORTICO take us at Islington Assembly Hall, and beyond in 2015….
