Rhythm & Blue Martyn aka The Fallen Heroes: Ben & Emile Martyn’s other line-up out of the Fallen Heroes, showcasing some of the best R & B & jazz rhythms and tunes associated with the sound of New Orleans, Louisiana and other southern states of America. This exciting line-up features band leader Ben Martyn on vocals and bass, brother Emile on drums & backing vocals, acclaimed Kansas City pianist, Dean Ross and special surprise guests. The brothers began their musical career in New Orleans, leading to extensive contact with local legends such as George Lewis, John Handy and Harold Dejan of the world-famous Olympia Brass Band. Before returning to Europe to create their own particular sound, playing New Orleans music but with a twist, writing original compositions in a funky New Orleans manner but playing in a more up to date, modern London style. Expect to hear an interesting mix of originals plus some hot rhythm & blues, swinging jazz & a dash of ska including numbers from Ray Charles, Fats Domino, Chuck Berry, all influenced by the music of New Orleans but done in a more contemporary style.
