“The Ridouts” features two generations of great jazz musicians, father Mark Ridout on guitar along with his Award-winning children, son Tom on sax, daughter Alexandra, now resident in New York, on trumpet and son Lester on drums with Lorenzo Morabito on bass.

It is a rare occasion when the family band can get together due to their musical lives taking them in different directions. Previous “The Ridouts” gigs have included The 606 club, Cambridge Jazz Festival and The Spin Jazz Club Oxford.

A busy professional musician, father Mark Ridout has performed in many of the country's major venues and his fluent and muscular playing has been heard with the likes of Jimmy Smith, Barbara Dennerlein, Tony Martin, Natalie Cole and Jane Monheit.

Son Tom Ridout was a finalist in the 2016 BBC Young Jazz Musician and has since won a slew of awards including the Peter Whittingham Jazz Award and the Lancaster Jazz Festival Youth Jazz Commission. He not only fronts his own Quintet performing his original music at all major venues and festivals, but is an in demand sideman performing in the UK and internationally with the likes of The James Taylor Quartet, Clark Tracey Quintet, Tristan Mailliot’s ‘Remembering Chick Cores’ project and recently was honoured to be part of an all star line up for The Barbara Thompson Memorial Concert.

Daughter Alexandra Ridout won the 2016 BBC Young Jazz Musician Award and went on to win the 2018 British Jazz Awards ‘rising star’, was a Parliamentary Jazz Awards nominee in 2020 and recently received ‘Best Soloist’ at the ‘Keep an Eye International Jazz Award 2023’.

Relocating to New York Alexandra has a busy schedule of performing and recording in the US, UK and Europe. Recent performance highlights include touring with superband ‘Artemis’ in Scandinavia, Zoe Rahman’s ‘Colour of Sound’ dates, Pablo Held’s Cologne Loft residency, Orlando Le Fleming’s ‘Romantic Funk, Dayna Stephen’s ‘Custom Deluxe’ band, Jochen Rueckert’s Quartet and with ECM pianist Kit Downes. She performs regularly in NYC with her own bands and regularly plays at New York’s prestigious Birdland with Aturo O’ Farrill’s Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra.

The youngest member of the band is Lester Ridout who is studying at The Guildhall School of Music and Drama. He is already an in demand drummer, cutting his teeth in London Jazz venues such as The Shed, Piano bar Soho, The Vortex, Olivers and sYp.
