THE ROOM with GOYA GUMBANI (LIVE) - Performing a minimum of 2 live sets from around 9pm.
Goya Gumbani is a rapper and producer based between London and New York.
Brooklyn born, of Guyanese and Jamaican descent and London raised; these factors coalesce to bring us an artist with a stand out set of sensibilities. Combining slick summations with a signature verve, the artist reveals a cadence and content that are a result of these experiences. An open and assuredness, but willing to share their plight and passions in their music.
This is made apparent through the array of styles Gumbani raps over and produces - with an affinity for heavy sample based jazz and soul immersed in lo-fi texture; we are introduced to an artist with a range of influences from Slick Rick to Janet Kay. Goya has played various live shows including Keep Hush Live, Lex Records' label showcase and Boiler Room Festival. As well as delivering a guest mix for CENO NYC and hosting his own radio show titled Kek Ear'waves on ITCH FM....
