Vanessa Haynes Big Birthday Gig at 606 Club

Originally from Trinidad, where she worked to great acclaim for some years, Vanessa finally made her way to London, which is definitely our gain. She performs a mix of soul, R&B standards and originals with some jazz standards thrown in and with her powerful, cultured voice and commanding stage presence is quite stunning. Not surprisingly her talent was recognised by Van Morrison (with whose band she toured) but she is probably best known these days as one of the featured singers with the iconic soul/jazz band “Incognito”, having toured and recorded with them for more than four years. She works with a fabulous seven-piece band that features some of the country’s finest “groove” players plus her very own backing vocalists! Musicians that she was worked with in the past include the exciting young keyboard player Xantoné Blacq, the effervescent Julian Burdock on guitar, the brilliant Yolanda Charles on bass and the powerful Davide Giovannini on drums. It’s also Vanessa’s birthday (it’s a “big” one this year I’m allowed to tell you!) so expect plenty of special guests (a lot of singers for sure!) to help her celebrate in style.
