"The brilliant young British Jazz pianist, Al MacSween, and the formidable Cuban violinist, Omar Puente, combine form and creativity with depth and spontaneity to give an original take on traditional Cuban masterpieces and some stylish, original compositions.

Omar Puente is one of the world's leading exponents of Latin-jazz violin. Born and raised in Santiago, Cuba, he studied classical violin at the Havana Music Conserveroire, played as a member of the Cuban National Symphony Orchestra and has worked with some of the greats of Cuban music, including Ruben Gonzalez and of Buena Vista Social Club, Cachao Lopez and Guillermo Rubalcaba, and more recently has performed with Latin music legends, Tito Puente (no relation), Chucho Valdes and Eddie Palmieri. After moving to the UK he joined Courtney Pine's band and has collaborated with world-class jazz musicians, including Denys Baptiste, Jason Yarde and Wynton Marsalis. In the classical world he has performed with the Simon Bolivar Youth Orchestra of Venezuela, legendary violinist Nigel Kennedy and has composed and performed for the Carlos Acosta ballet.
