About
We are pleased to welcome a world-class quartet of musicians to the club tonight, performing extracts from their fantastic, eponymously named album "Lifestories". Originally recorded in the idyllic hilltop Italian town of Buccino in early 2013, the album consists of each band member's personal choice of three favourite tracks. These interpretations, chosen from an eclectic mixture of artists including Wayne Shorter, Ennio Morricone, Django Reinhardt and Sting, are brought to life with the effortless ease of these four superb players. Jim Mullen is a 606 long-time regular and UK guitar legend who has been entertaining audiences with his mellifluous playing style since the 1970's. A member of the hugely successful "Average White Band" as well as the equally acclaimed “Morrissey/Mullen” band he is a truly iconic UK jazz figure. Julian Mazzariello is a hugely talented young pianist of Italian heritage but born in England, whose graceful and creative playing has already been heard alongside artists including Enrico Rava, Fabrizio Bosso, Andre Ceccarelli and Lucio Dalla. As well as a first call for many well-established European-based jazz artists, Julian is also a highly regarded studio musician. Enzo Zirilli is a much sought after Italian drummer/percussionist whose effortless playing has seen him perform with artists including Hamish Stuart, Dado Moroni, Tom Harrell, Bob Mintzer and Omar. Bass player Dario Deidda has won several awards in his native Italy, including "Best Bass Player" three times in a row and can be considered amongst the finest jazz bassists in the world. This project is really a labour of love from everyone involved, and the intimacy of the 606 Club is undoubtedly the best venue to experience the warmth of the interaction and close musical collaboration between these wonderful musicians. ...
