Matt is a lovely, melodic, alto saxophonist who performs in the classic bebop style. One of those players who studied at Berklee College of Music in America, his impressive technique and liquid sound are testament to a fine talent, and he has worked with, among others, Ian Shaw, Peter King, Norma Winstone, Jamie Cullum and Sax Appeal, the latter with which he often performs when not leading his own groups. His writing is also superlative and this great six-piece band, boasting a three-horn front line, is quite brilliant. As well as Matt on sax the line up also includes fellow saxophonist Steve Main, UK trumpet star Steve Fishwick, the highly regarded pianist Leon Greening and the top flight rhythm section of Dave Chamberlain (bass) and Matt Home (drums).
