About

Born in Sao Paulo, Brazil, bass player Moyses dos Santos showed an aptitude for the instrument from a very early age. His first public performance was at the age of 8, when he appeared with his local church band, and he continued to perform within the Church environment right through to the age of 18. Once in his teens the word soon got out and it wasn’t long before he found himself touring Brazil with established gospel and pop artists. His international career really took off, though, on his move to London in the late 2000’s when he was in his mid 20’s. It didn’t take long for his talent to be recognised and for the last 3 years or so he has been touring Europe and his native South America with various high profile bands as well as working regularly as a successful studio musician here in London. Co-founder, along with Incognito and Level 42 drummer Pete Ray Biggin, of the impressive band “Lola’s Day Off” (who are releasing a new EP in January before starting a European tour), Moyses is also in the process of recording his own album with well known instrumentalists from both the UK and the US. Moyses will be appearing tonight with his fantastic international 6 piece band which features from the UK Richie Garrison (Macy Gray, Incognito) on saxophone, Australian Paul Murray (Gabrielle, Tyler James) on guitar, from Poland the Award winning Tomasz Bura (Ernesto Simpson) on keyboards, from Turkey the Award winning Selim Munir (Lee Ritenour) on drums and the Brazilian Alua Nascimento (Chico Chagas) on percussion. And if all that wasn’t enough Moyses has also asked the terrific singer/pianist Xantone Blacq (Amy Winehouse, Nigel Kennedy, Jessie J) and wonderful singer Heidi Vogel (The Cinematic Orchestra) to join the band for some impromptu “grooving”. And if you were thinking of drawing breath at any point, don’t bother as in addition to all that remarkable talent one of the UK’s finest Jazz/rap artists, an old friend of the Club brilliant saxophonist Soweto Kinch has also agreed to come down to strut his stuff for Moyses (and us!). This is an amazing line up put together just for this gig and is a fantastic pre-Xmas treat for anyone who likes great Latin/Brazilian/Groove. Booking advised....
