About

Born in to a prestigious musical family it was inevitable that award-winning Cuban songstress Elsa Valle would become a highly respected and admired international artist. After studying at the world famous Escuela Nacional De Artes in Havana (which has also produced such artists as Paquito D'Rivera, Chucho Valdes and Arturo Sandoval) she was soon working at some of Cuban's finest venues and festivals, including the Tropicana in Havana and the Boleros De Oro festival. It wasn't long before she was working farther afield, with performances in the Americas and Europe, appearing at jazz, Latin and pop festivals such as the San Remo Festival and the La Bienal Flamenco Festival. Together with her brother, the Cuban pianist Ramón Valle, she was involved in several tours of Maria Serrano’s flamenco dance show, garnering numerous plaudits and rave reviews for her performance along the way. More recently she has been working with her own group keeping the Cuban tradition alive by singing jazz in her unique style, mixing it with the rhythms and melodies of Cuban music. After meeting, and marrying, the highly regarded Hungarian jazz vocalist Gabor Winand Elsa settled in Hungary, from where she continues to tour and perform. With 4 albums to her name and a Special Prize from the Lyra Festival, Elsa's style can best be defined as an interesting and fantastic blend of traditional and contemporary Cuban singing. Tonight she will be accompanied by some of the finest Latin musicians in the UK, Dave Oliver (Manteca) piano, Andy Lafone (Snowboy, Negrocan) bass, Flavio Correa (Sugar Kings) percussion and Tristan Banks (Alex Wilson, Da Lata) drums. This promises to be a brilliant and fun filled night of Cuban music from one of the finest exponents of the art in Europe. Highly recommended....
