About

Polly Gibbons is one of the most respected and talked about singers of her generation. Since first hitting the UK jazz scene more than 10 years ago while still in her teens, Polly has developed into a consummate performer with a sultry, distinctive style as much at home singing tender jazz ballads as she is performing rockin’ R&B classics. A regular these days at venues up and down the country as well as various jazz festivals, she includes work with the likes of Joss Stone, Alison Moyet, Mick Hucknall and Charlotte Church on an impressive CV, however she is probably best known as one of the resident singers with the Ronnie Scott’s House Band. She released her first UK Jazz album “My Own Company” featuring pianist James Pearson (who is also Musical Director of Ronnie Scott’s) in 2014 and in a reflection of her growing stature as an International performing artist was signed in the same year to acclaimed US jazz label Resonance Records. As a result of that collaboration she recorded the album ‘Many Faces Of Love’ in Los Angeles with founder and producer George Klabin, going on to complete a highly successful preliminary autumn tour of the US in Florida, New York, Boston and Minneapolis. The album was released globally on 4th February 2015 and two days after her gig here at the Club she will be returning to tour the US once again. The music she will be performing tonight will be selection of material taken from these two most recent albums with a stellar band featuring her MD James Pearson-piano, Tim Thornton-bass and Chris Draper-drums. A very old friend of the Club (Polly performed her first London gig here, back in the day) it’s with great pleasure that we welcome this remarkable talent back to the 606....
