The Retro Chet Quartet Celebrate Chet Baker’s Last Tokyo Concert (Plus the Raccateers Jazz Quintet) on the Sunday Lunch Session (2.30pm): The Retro Chet Quartet, Geoff Varrell, trumpet, Caroline Cooper, piano, Peter Miles, drums & Clive Brown, bass, recapture the sound and spirit of the great Chet Baker in his later years as well as revisiting some of his earlier work. In June 1987 Chet Baker played a final concert in Tokyo which became one of the last times he was recorded before his untimely death. Support on today’s Sunday Sessions is provided by the Raccateers, alumni of the Richmond Jazz School, part of the RAC, the Richmond Adult Community College, where their name derived from. Their eclectic repertoire spans Bossa Nova, Blues & Swing, led by the vocals of singer/songwriter Marie Herbert and featuring Chris Firmin on drums, James Werner on piano, Lloyd Jonas on bass & Mark Albrow on guitar.
