This band really is an all-star collective, featuring six of the best players on the scene. Simon Woolf, one of the country’s leading jazz bassists is one of the most musical and tasteful players around and he leads this band of top instrumentalists with aplomb. The repertoire of the group consists of Simon’s originals plus a variety of classic jazz and groove standards, all arranged by Simon, and performed by this exceptional band. Gareth Lockrane (JTQ) is considered to be one of Europe’s finest jazz flautists; Mark Crooks’s fluent and melodic clarinet and sax work has been heard to great effect throughout the UK, most notably in his “Tribute to Benny Goodman” performances; Henry Armburg-Jennings (Clark Tracey) is widely considered to be one of the finest of the young, melodic trumpet players on the UK scene; Colin Oxley’s (Stacey Kent) world-class, beautiful, liquid guitar style has graced innumerable gigs and sessions and drummer Matt Home is first call for a wide variety of the finest straight-ahead bands in the country.
