About

UK jazz musician and composer Tim Boniface - also Chaplain of Girton College, Cambridge - will premier a new six part jazz work ‘Psalter: Themes for Peace’ at St Alban’s Cathedral on 20th January, to coincide with the Peace Doves exhibition. Along the same lines as his acclaimed suites The Eight Words and The Infant, this new work explores biblical themes through music in the mainstream jazz vein, taking six diverse lines about peace from the book of Psalms.

Performing alongside Tim Boniface on saxophones will be a remarkable trio of some of the most respected names in British jazz - James Pearson, masterful pianist extraordinaire and artistic director of the renowned Ronnie Scotts, London, whose vision and virtuosity makes him a ubiquitous presence on the UK jazz scene; Malcolm Creese, one of Europe’s best known double bass players, bassist for Johnny Dankworth and Cleo Laine and first choice for some of the world’s top players on tour, and founding member of the widely acclaimed Acoustic Triangle; and Jon Ormston, a highly sought after and infectiously creative drummer whose recording and performing career takes in London Jazz Orchestra, City of Birmingham Symphony, Guy Barker, Stan Sultzman, Eliot Galvin, and many others.
