Xhosa Cole and Alex Hitchcock, two of the best young tenor sax players in the UK, join forces with rising star Deschanel Gordon, whose stunning Sheffield debut with his own trio in Autumn 2021 was a highlight of that season. Supported by another rising star, Joe Downard on bass and drummer Shane Forbes, a founding member of the award-winning band Empirical, this band will be performing material from the classic Eddie ‘Lockjaw’ Davis/Johnny Griffin hard-bop album ‘Live at Mintons’. Expect the kind of hearty, bluesy, full-blowing jazz associated with the contrasting tenor styles of these two fiery tenor greats.
