Come be a part of a special MLK service with music by the Afro-Semitic Experience. The Afro-Semitic Experience is a genre-defying ensemble that blends the rich musical traditions of the Jewish and African diasporas into a soul-stirring celebration of unity and community. With a sound that fuses jazz, gospel, klezmer, spirituals, and world-beat rhythms, their performances are both deeply spiritual and joyfully exuberant—“a whoopin’, hollerin’, testifyin’ celebration of multicultural soul music,” as one critic put it. Founded by bassist David Chevan and pianist Warren Byrd, the group uses music as a vehicle for healing, dialogue, and social justice, inviting audiences to experience the power of àse and shalom—action, unity, and peace—through every note they play.
