Grammy Award-winning New Zealand-born pianist Alan Broadbent and renowned bassist Harvie S invite you to an evening of timeless jazz standards and original compositions, performed in their distinctive and original style. Alan Broadbent is a highly acclaimed jazz pianist, composer, and arranger. He is renowned for his work with Charlie Haden’s Quartet West, Woody Herman, Natalie Cole, and Chet Baker, amongst others. Broadbent’s career has spanned decades, marked by numerous collaborations and solo projects that showcase his lyrical and melodic approach to jazz. Broadbent has won two Grammy Awards: one for his arrangement of “When I Fall in Love” for Natalie Cole, and another for his arrangement of Leonard Bernstein’s “Lonely Town” for Shirley Horn. Harvie S is a distinguished jazz bassist with a unique style and virtuosic technique, whose dynamic bass lines and innovative approach to rhythm have earned him widespread acclaim amongst critics and audiences alike. He effortlessly traverses various jazz subgenres, from traditional to Afro-Cuban, Brazilian, and avant-garde. Throughout his illustrious career, Harvie has recorded with a plethora of jazz luminaries, including Michael Brecker, Paquito D’Rivera, Chick Corea, Kenny Barron, John Scofield, Sheila Jordan, James Moody, Yusef Lateef, and The Manhattan Transfer. He has over 400 recordings as a sideman, 20 as a co-leader, and 21 as a bandleader. In addition to performing, Harvie also teaches at the Manhattan School of Music, where he has taught since 1982.
