Bernell Jones - Saxophone
Originally from Memphis, TN, Bernell Jones II is a saxophonist and songwriter based in NYC. He is known not only for his playing but also for disrupting the content creation industry in the music sector with his consistent stream of viral music-comedy videos on Instagram and TikTok. Bernell picked up the saxophone at age ten after primarily playing piano for four years. This was a huge turning point in his life. Although he doesn’t consider himself a professional pianist, it aided him in enhancing his compositional skills and his understanding of music. His discography showcases a variety of musical influences from his upbringing, such as gospel, jazz, blues, R&B, etc. Bernell has worked alongside artists such as Ms. Lauryn Hill, Wyclef Jean, Philip Harper, Julius Rodriguez, and more. He credits his writing style to the influences his parents played around the house growing up, such as Earth, Wind & Fire, Michael Jackson, Maxwell, and Janet Jackson, along with jazz influences such as Roy Hargrove, Miles Davis, and Herbie Hancock. Dexter Birk- Piano
Dexter Birk has begun to make his mark on the NYC jazz scene as performer and music director. Originally from Chicago, Dexter began his career participating in countless regional and national jazz ensembles, and is currently under the tutelage of Jeremy Manasia and John Benitez at the Manhattan School of Music. Having received a scholarship to study in NYC, Dexter is now performing and recording regularly with notable artists such as saxophonist Bernell Jones II and vocalists Nali, Jordan Curls, Rapper Kaicrewsade and more. Most recently Dexter was a featured solo performer at the Millennium Park Stage for the Chicago Jazz Festival in a tribute to legends of jazz that passed away in 2023. Other performers sharing the stage were Kenny Garrett, Billy Hart an d Kris Davis. DEXTER is set to release his debut single "Moonbeams", a project featuring Sarahfina Osei on vocals this year.
Michael Francis Gilbert - Bass
Michael Gilbert is a New York City based improvisor, bassist, and composer. He has worked with many notable creative musicians, having recorded or performed with William Parker, Dave Sewelson, Joel Ross, Savannah Harris, Noa Fort, Rob Vega, among others. He is currently studying at The New School to receive his BFA in instrumental performance.
Josh green - Drums
Josh Green is a drummer/percussionist/visual artist based out of the Chattanooga, TN area. Josh's current work focuses on solo sensory percussion work with a heavy implementation of visuals within live performance. Past work includes Infradig, The Distribution, Josh Garrels, and many others. Josh also created the largest drum loop library of all time, recording, editing, and publishing a full drum loop library every day for one full calendar year (2016-2017).
