About

| Jazz, compositionsThe Brussels-based Aleph Quintet draws from the musical traditions of North Africa, the language of contemporary jazz, and the power of improvisation to create a unique sound, rooted and constantly evolving. These five musicians with diverse backgrounds develop a transitional music, where enchanting rhythms, modern harmonies, and a quest for authenticity intersect. Their art is that of connection: between cultures, eras, and emotions.Following the success of their first album, "Shapes of Silence," widely acclaimed by critics, Aleph Quintet pushes the boundaries of their art with this new project. The five Brussels-based musicians, now recognized and followed on the international music scene, return with "Hiwar," an album highlighting their musical signature: a bold fusion of modern jazz and traditional North African music. In Arabic, "Hiwar" means "dialogue," a word that perfectly sums up the spirit of this opus: an exchange celebrating cultures, heritages, and innovations. Dialogue inherently signifies a mutual quest for understanding and authenticity. By laying bare thoughts, beliefs, and emotions, "Hiwar" is a space where identities reflect and learn from each other. Each member of the quintet brings their own universe and experience, creating a powerful, rooted, and contemporary collective vision.Aleph Quintet has received numerous awards, including "Revelation" by Jazz Magazine, "4 stars" by Le Soir, "Best Belgian jazz album" by Jazz à Liège, the "French Music Press Award," as well as the "Silver Tanit" at the Carthage Musical Days. Moreover, the group has performed throughout the year in several countries: Belgium, France, Spain, Germany, Tunisia, Jordan, England, Scotland, Sweden...The Jazz Station (Brussels) at 38RivFranco-Belgian EncountersOn the occasion of its 20th anniversary, the Jazz Station, a true home of Brussels jazz nestled in a former train station, sets up in Paris for a week. The 38Riv gives it carte blanche, symbolizing a rich and vibrant Franco-Belgian artistic encounter. Concerts, discoveries, exchanges: the event promises to highlight the diversity and energy of the current Belgian jazz scene.More than just a club, the Jazz Station is a place in constant motion where music breaks down barriers, reinvents itself, and is shared with all audiences. This collaboration is just one step in an ongoing dialogue: in 202...
