In a rare local performance Philly born pianist, Mark Kramer (age 78) will be interviewed and perform originals and standards. Mark has played and recorded with an incredible array of jazz luminaries including members of Miles Davis groups and partnered with bassist Eddie Gomez for several decades. His approach is unique, richly eclectic, technically adroit, and honors the roots of jazz, plus its gradual influence on and by world music. He's recorded over 40 albums, some for major labels. In 2002 after a two plus year residency as Chris's Jazz Cafe's house pianist Mark then played many high profile NYC jazz clubs and embarked on an international music career; but in about 2013 Mark mostly exited his flourishing music career in order to attend full time to a terminally ill family member.
Now back at music, current projects include hosting a young string sextet from Peabody Conservatory as well as the imminent release of a radically new trio collection entitled "BEYOND."
