Jazz Bridge presents their “First Thursdays Neighborhood Concerts Series-Jazz in the Wood” at the Collingswood Community Center, 30 Collings Ave, Collingswood, NJ 08108. This second concert of the season, Thursday, November 5, features bassist Craig Thomas and his group. Showtime is 7:30-9:00 p.m. and tickets are $10 general admission/$5 for students, and are only available at the door. Since the mid-1970s, Craig Thomas has been one of the busiest bassists and bass educators in Philadelphia. He is a graduate of the Philadelphia Music Academy (now The University of the Arts) with a Bachelor of Arts in Music, holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Rutgers University, and in 2002, received a Master of Arts Music from Rowan University. Thomas has played with a vast array of jazz luminaries, including Buddy Rich, Philly Joe Jones, Mel Lewis, Pat Martino and Jimmy Bruno, just to name a few. He has also accompanied such pop icons as Vic Damone, Frank Sinatra and currently has been touring with former teen idol, James Darren and guitarist, Jimmy Bruno. He has also recorded with a number of artists, his most recent efforts being on the JAZZMEDIA label with Jeff Darrohn. He has also recorded four CDs on the Concord Jazz label with Jimmy Bruno, two live CDs: "Live at Birdland" with Bobby Watson and "Live at Birdland Two" with Scott Hamilton. His performances and compositions have been reviewed in Down Beat, Just Jazz Guitar, and International Society of Bassists Journal and Jazztimes magazines. Craig Thomas is an Adjunct Associate Professor at The University of the Arts in Philadelphia, and the University of Delaware.
